Guided Auger Boring

For smaller diameter pipes, Guided Auger Boring using our BM400 unit from Bohrtec allows the installation of both 300mm diameter and 450mm diameter sewer pipes up to a distance of 90m from a 2.1m internal diameter launch shaft. This discreet working method allows sewers and road crossings to be installed in the tightest of situations with the minimum of disruption to the road structure, other services and the Public. The principle of the guided system is that a 125mm splayed pilot rod is pushed and steered through the ground from launch to reception shaft. Therefore, the ground must be displaceable with an N value typically not greater than 35. Once the pilot is installed a cutter-head with trailing casings and augers will follow the pilot, maintaining an accurate line. A special water-auger positioned immediately behind the cutter-head controls the ground water in saturated or liquid soil conditions.
