Scope of the Works included:
Particular challenges on this Scheme were:
600m of the 450mm diameter foul sewer involved laying across a section of bog land, 300m of which had to be piled. The other 300m was at 3-4m deep and was at rock / solid formation that didn’t require piling.
The piled section was constructed in the following sequence:
33 tonne piling machine brought in on special fabricated floatation mats,
2No. piles, driven 1.5m apart at 10m intervals,
When all the piles were driven, 4No. wide-track machines were used to excavate the line of the pipeline 4No. welders then constructed the support arrangement between the piles to carry the new 450mm pipework and manholes
Pipework was then laid and the whole area backfilled and reinstated.
